
Hospital in Tianjin China The First Teaching Hospital of Tianjin University of TCM is the national demonstration TCM hospital. It was established in 1954. There are over 1,000 beds in its in-patient department, 24 sections and ICU and CCU wards. 600 beds are used for acupuncture patients. The rate of ward utilization has been keeping on 100% for many years. There are more than 4,000 out-patients daily on average. 1,000 of them come for acupuncture treatment. There have been more than 1 million out-patients each year for 15 years. There are 23 clinical technical departments and 69 clinics for special diseases in the hospital. And 15 branches of National Clinical Research Center of Acupuncture and Moxibustion have been established in Tianjin. The hospital is the comprehensive base of the medical treatments; teaching and scientific research characterized as the diagnosis and treatment of TCM, and is a national center appointed to cultivate MDs and postgraduates of TCM. The hospital is outstanding and noted both at home and abroad for the curative effect of its'' Xing Nao Kai Qiao*(XNKQ, Activating the Brain and Opening the Orifices) Therapy in treatment of post-stroke syndrome, which was initiated by Dr. Shi, Xuemin, tutor of MD, the former president of the hospital as well as the first and the only academician of acupuncture in the Chinese Academy of Engineering. The patients from more than 20 countries and districts of the world were attracted to come to the hospital for treatment by its reputation. Meanwhile, thousands of TCM doctors from all over the world were systematically trained there. The hospital has successfully hosted 7 sessions of International Clinical Academic Conferences of Acupuncture and Moxibustion. There were more than thousands of scholars from over 10 countries attending.
